Women in Defence UK Awards: A message from Angela Owen

As 2018, and this year’s award season draws to a close, I’d like to offer my congratulations to our winners, finalists and to all those who were nominated.

Now in its third year, the Women in Defence UK Awards continues to grow. This year, we added two new categories and saw 270 people including the Secretary of State for Defence join us for the Awards Dinner. All of this wouldn’t be possible without two very important groups of people; our nominees and our nominators. Without both of these groups, the Women in Defence Awards simply wouldn’t exist, let alone get bigger year on year.

Every year, the calibre of nominations is extraordinary, and this year has been no different. If you’ve spoken to any of our judges, you’ll know just how difficult they found it to narrow down the field this year. So, as I said on the evening, go out and tell people about your achievements. Don’t boast, but be proud, be incredibly proud. Your accomplishments really will inspire the next generation of women who work in defence of the nation.

Angela
