On Thursday 13th October, on behalf of the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Richard Nugee, Chief of Defence People, presented the inaugural Women in Defence Awards at the Honourable Artillery Company’s Headquarters. There were more than 200 nominations for five award categories and following an extensive judging process, three finalists per category attended the award ceremony. Outstanding Contribution Award - Lieutenant Colonel Emma Hutley
Most Collaborative Award - Flight Lieutenant Harriet Tadikonda
Special Award – Joint Winners - Heledd Kendrick and Steward Janine Mayoll
Promotion of Gender Diversity - Amelia Gould
The overall Women in Defence 'Woman of the Year' Award 2016 was presented to Lieutenant Colonel Lucy Giles.
Over 200 nominations across five categories were submitted for the Women in Defence inaugural awards. On Friday 9 September, the Women in Defence team with the support of the Ministry of Defence (MOD) hosted a lunch to recognise and congratulate the top ten nominees in each category. This was held in the Memorial Courtyard at the MOD Main Building. Awards were presented to the nominees by Danuta Gray, Chair of the MOD People Committee, and Lieutenant General Richard Nugee, Chief of Defence People.
The top three finalists for each category are shown below. The three category finalists were invited to attend the Awards Dinner, held on Thursday 13 October 2016 at the Honourable Artillery Company’s Headquarters. The Dinner was attended by the Chief of the Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach.
