Rear Admiral Andrew Rose OBE

Andrew Rose joined the Royal Navy as direct entry aircrew in 1996 and qualified as an Observer on the Sea King Airborne Early Warning variant. His early career was spent mostly on aircraft carriers on operations and exercises in the Northern Arabian Gulf, Kosovo, Gulf of Aden and broader Middle East, and from the US to the Arctic Circle. 

He has Commanded 849 Naval Air Squadron and the Maritime Sea King Force, during the period of persistent operations in Afghanistan, the Middle East and UK Search and Rescue. He deployed to Kabul in 2017 as a military advisor within the Afghan Government Ministries, for which he was awarded the US Meritorious Service Medal; Bahrain in 2019 as Deputy Commander of CTF 151; and has been COS to Commander UK Maritime Forces and the Maritime Battle-staff. He was appointed OBE for his most recent appointment to PJHQ. In 2022, on promotion to 1*, he became Deputy Director Plans in NCHQ, followed by Head of Mil Strat Plans in MOD during SDR 25 and the establishment of the MSHQ. 

Andrew is married with three children, he lives in Hampshire, is a proud President of both Royal Navy Football and Royal Navy Golf, a Vice President of RN Cricket and a former President of RN Athletics. Alongside this he is Chairman of the ANYFACE Association for veteran and serving members of the Royal Navy’s Airborne Early Warning force.
